“Garangheo” Dorona Veneto IGT 2025
Wine Description
Garangheo is a dry white wine made from Dorona di Venezia, a rare indigenous grape variety grown by Ca’ Saccagnana on the island of Le Vignole in the Venetian lagoon. The vineyard sits in sandy, brackish lagoon soils that give the wine a distinctive saline mineral character not found in mainland Veneto whites. Dorona is an ancient variety closely tied to the history of Venice, once cultivated by the Doges and nearly lost to neglect before a small number of producers began reviving it. The name Garangheo comes from the Venetian dialect word for celebration or festivity. Ca’ Saccagnana is a newer independent estate, separate from other lagoon Dorona projects, producing this wine as a standalone varietal expression. The style is fresh and dry, built for early drinking alongside the seafood and fish dishes traditional to Venetian cuisine.
