Dorona Veneto IGT 2023

Biniola is a small agricultural estate on the Isola delle Vignole in the Venice Lagoon, founded in 2022 to revive winemaking on an island historically known as Biniola or Isola delle Sette Vigne. The wine is made from 100% Dorona di Venezia, an ancient white-berried variety native to the Venetian Lagoon that had nearly disappeared and has been restored to its original island habitat. The vines grow in approximately 1.6 hectares of sandy, saline soils directly surrounded by lagoon waters, conditions that give the grape a distinctive mineral and lightly saline character. Grapes are harvested by hand, and the wine is fermented and aged in concrete vats to preserve the clarity and purity of the fruit. The result is a dry white wine with citrus and orchard-fruit notes balanced by firm acidity and a clean saline finish that directly expresses its lagoon terroir.
