Veneto Durello IGT “L’Orso Saggio” 2023

L’Orso Saggio is a still, unoaked white wine made from 100% Durella grapes grown on the volcanic basaltic slopes of Monte Faldeo in the Monti Lessini area of the Veneto. Grapes are harvested in the second half of October, later than is typical for the variety, to allow fuller aromatic development while moderating the grape’s naturally high acidity. Fermentation and ageing take place entirely in stainless steel, where the wine rests on its own lees for ten months before bottling. It then spends a further year in bottle prior to release. The result is a wine that expresses the mineral, volcanic character of Gambellara alongside the fresh, food-friendly profile that Durella can achieve as a still wine.
