Valpolicella DOC Superiore 2021
Wine Description
Marion is a family estate in the Marcellise valley, east of Verona, with vineyards at around 100 metres above sea level on calcareous soils with clay and scattered stone, exposed north to south on a gentle slope. For this Valpolicella Superiore, a portion of the harvested grapes undergoes a partial drying period of approximately 40 days in well-ventilated rooms before fermentation, concentrating colour, aroma and structure. The wine is then aged in oak barrels of varying sizes for an extended period before bottling. The 2021 is deep ruby in colour with violet hints, showing notes of ripe cherry, small woodland berries, perennial herbs and gentle spice on the nose. On the palate it is dry, robust and full, with soft tannins and a long, persistent finish.
