Wine Description
Bricco dell’Uccellone is Braida’s leading single-vineyard Barbera, first produced in 1982 from vines grown on the Bricco dell’Uccellone hill in Rocchetta Tanaro, in the Asti district of Piedmont. The wine is made from 100% Barbera grapes and undergoes a temperature-controlled skin maceration of 20 days, followed by 12 months of ageing in new oak barriques and a further 12 months of bottle rest before release. The 2022 vintage was harvested from mid-September under an unusually warm and dry growing season, resulting in high natural sugars and deep colour concentration in the grapes. In the glass, it presents a very deep ruby red with garnet highlights, with a rich and concentrated bouquet of red and dark berries, forest fruits, vanilla, minty spice and liquorice. The palate is generous and full with excellent body, dense fruit and well-integrated oak, supported by Barbera’s naturally high acidity that gives freshness and length. The 1.5L Magnum format slows the ageing process relative to a standard bottle, allowing for greater development of complexity over a longer cellaring window.
