Barolo DOCG “Comune di La Morra” 2022
Wine Description
Roberto Voerzio’s Barolo del Comune di La Morra is a blend of Nebbiolo plots from four crus within the La Morra municipality: La Serra, Fossati, Case Nere and Cerequio. Vineyards are planted at around 450 metres elevation with a south-east exposure, with vine density of up to 8,000 plants per hectare and yields kept to approximately 800 grams per vine. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel using natural yeasts, with maceration lasting between 10 and 30 days. The 2022 wine is aged for 24 months in a combination of used barriques and 15-hectolitre oak barrels, followed by 8 months in stainless steel and a further 8 months in bottle before release. No filtration or fining is applied at any stage. La Morra’s calcareous marl soils give the Nebbiolo particularly fine tannins and a pronounced floral character compared with other communes in the Barolo zone.
