About Oddero
Oddero is a historic family winery based in La Morra in the Langhe hills of Piedmont, Italy, with origins dating back to the 19th century. The estate is currently managed by siblings Mariacristina and Mariavittoria Oddero and is known for producing traditional Barolo wines from several prestigious crus, including Brunate, Bussia, and Villero. The winery also produces Barbaresco, Barbera d'Alba, and Langhe Nebbiolo, working primarily with estate-grown fruit.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Oddero

History
The Oddero family has lived in La Morra since at least the 18th century, according to parish and township records. Giovanni Battista Oddero, born in 1794, began making wine there, and his sons Lorenzo and Luigi carried on the work. By 1878 Giacomo Oddero, born in 1851, was selling wine in bottles under the family name, which the winery calls ahead of its time.
In the late 1800s the family exported Barolo to the Americas in small oak barrels, and in 1911 its Barolo was shown at the International Exposition in Turin. In the 1950s the grandson Giacomo Oddero, born in 1926, renovated the farm and house. He served as provincial assessor of agriculture and took part in shaping the DOC and DOCG rules for the Langhe and Roero, and in 1997 he founded the national centre for Alba truffle studies. His daughter Mariacristina came into the business in the late 1990s, and the grandchildren Isabella and Pietro now represent the seventh generation.
The land and the vineyards
The estate totals 35 hectares, split into separate vineyards, some as small as half a hectare. They lie in La Morra, Serralunga d'Alba, Monforte d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Verduno, Neive, Trezzo Tinella and Nizza Monferrato. Named sites include Brunate, Gallina, Cascina Fiori and Vinchio d'Asti, and Barolo labels also name Monvigliero, Vignarionda, Bussia Vigna Mondoca, Rocche di Castiglione and Villero.
Since 2008 the winery has moved toward organic methods, starting by ending chemical weed control. Rows are worked mechanically, copper and sulphur are used against fungal disease, and manure and green manure feed the soil. The Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto vineyards are certified organic, while Moscato and Riesling are managed sustainably.
The wines
Nebbiolo leads the list. The estate bottles several Barolo DOCG from single sites, Barbaresco DOCG Gallina, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba Superiore and Nizza DOCG. It also makes Langhe Nebbiolo, Langhe Riesling, Moscato d'Asti from Cascina Fiori and a Moscato grappa.
Today
The company is owned by Mariacristina Oddero and Mariavittoria Oddero. Seven generations on, it still works from La Morra, in the Langhe landscape recognised by UNESCO.
