Trebbiano di Soave “Massifitti” Veneto IGT 2021
Wine Advocate 93
Wine Description
Massifitti is produced by Suavia, a family winery in the Soave Classico zone near Verona, from 100% Trebbiano di Soave grapes. The vineyard, planted in 2006 using clones of old Trebbiano di Soave vines, covers approximately 2 hectares with a south-facing exposure at 300 metres altitude. The name refers to the dense volcanic basalt rocks that characterise the soil of the Fitta locality. Grapes are harvested by hand in early September, gently pressed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks at 15 to 18 degrees Celsius without malolactic fermentation, preserving the wine’s natural acidity. The wine rests on fine lees with regular batonnage before bottling, building texture while keeping the profile crisp and mineral. First produced in 2008, it is one of the few Italian wines devoted entirely to Trebbiano di Soave, a historically significant but long-overlooked grape.
