Lugana DOC Riserva “Del Lupo” 2021 – MAGNUM
Wine Description
Ca’ Lojera’s Lugana Riserva Del Lupo is produced from 100% Turbiana grapes grown on the white clay soils of the south shore of Lake Garda in Sirmione, Brescia. The grapes are harvested late, between the end of October and early November, when partial noble botrytis has developed, concentrating flavour and adding textural richness while the wine remains dry. Fermentation is long and cool in stainless steel, followed by two years of aging in steel tanks and at least six months in bottle, stored in an underground cellar kept at a constant temperature below lake level. The white clay soils, once part of the bed of Lake Garda, give the wine a pronounced mineral character that runs through the nose and the finish. Turbiana, the sole grape of the Lugana appellation, is closely related to Verdicchio and shares its capacity for long bottle aging, making this wine suitable for cellaring well beyond its release. Ca’ Lojera was among the first producers of the modern Lugana era, farming 18 hectares of organically managed vines and producing this wine in small quantities each year.
