About Ca' Lojera
Ca' Lojera is a family-owned winery located on the southern shore of Lake Garda, straddling the Lombardy and Veneto border in northern Italy. The estate is run by the Tiraboschi-Franco family and focuses primarily on Lugana DOC wines produced from Turbiana grapes. Ca' Lojera is recognized as one of the benchmark producers in the Lugana appellation, offering wines across multiple aging tiers including their riserva bottlings.

About Ca' Lojera

History
Ambra and Franco Tiraboschi came from traditional farming and direct sales. In the late 1980s the family farm had about five hectares of Turbiana, the white grape of Lugana. In the early 1990s they decided to turn their grapes into their own wine instead of selling the fruit, and in 1992 the cellar vinified its first vintage.
The name Cà Lojera means house of wolves. It comes from oral tradition about merchants who travelled the lake shores and were protected by packs of wolves. The estate sits in an old farmhouse at Rovizza di Sirmione, once owned by the bishop of Verona, according to other sources.
The land and the vineyards
Today the estate vinifies only its own grapes, from over 20 hectares: 18 in Sirmione and 2 on the morainic hills near Ponti sul Mincio. The Sirmione vineyards stand on white clay of lake origin. The family links the mineral, salty and austere side of its Lugana to these clays, and says that this shows more strongly in the Superiore and the Riserva.
The grapes are Turbiana, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet.
The wines
Lugana is the centre of the range: Lugana DOC, Lugana Superiore and Lugana Riserva del Lupo. Two sparkling wines come from the Metodo Classico, Tur Blanc and a rosé called Saignée. The hill vineyards give the Monte della Guardia wines: Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and a rosato.
The cellar also makes Valtenesi Chiaretto from the Riviera del Garda Classico, the sweet Ravel Passito, and two grappas from Lugana, one of them aged.
Today
After over thirty years Franco Tiraboschi still leads the winery, together with the new generation. Ambra has described the present of the estate as a kaleidoscope of experiments, listening, relationships and new challenges. The wine shop is open Monday to Saturday and on Sunday morning, and the winery receives tasting groups of up to 60 people. Its wines are sold in Italy and abroad.
