Raboso DOC Piave “Potestà” 2018 – MAGNUM
Wine Description
Potesta is produced by Bonotto delle Tezze, a family winery established in Tezze di Piave, in the Treviso province of Veneto, with roots in the area dating back to the 1400s. The wine is made from Raboso Piave, an ancient and vigorous native grape once called ‘Vin da Viaio’ during the Venetian Republic era for its ability to withstand transport. After harvest, the wine undergoes natural cold-settling decantation over winter before transfer to oak, where it ages for over 24 months in underground cellars in large Slavonian oak barrels. The result is a dry, still red wine with a ruby color showing light garnet reflections, total acidity of around 7.00 g/l, and a pH of approximately 3.40. The extended oak aging moderates the grape’s naturally high tannin and acidity without eliminating its defining structure. About 8,000 bottles are produced per year, making it one of the winery’s key cru expressions alongside the Malanotte del Piave DOCG.
