About Corte Aleardi
Corte Aleardi stands in Gargagnago, one of the historic hamlets of the Valpolicella Classica, where the Ferrari family has made wine since 1789. The estate centres on a seventeenth century residence whose underground cellars keep a naturally constant temperature for aging, while a newer building handles vinification and bottling. Two hillside parcels, Bure Alto and Montepalà, supply the fruit: calcareous soils and good exposure ripen the grapes slowly and evenly. The work stays traditional throughout, with manual selection of the bunches and the classic drying process, and Amarone sits at the centre of the house's identity.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Corte Aleardi

History
Corte Aleardi is a family estate at Gargagnago, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. The Ferrari family says it has made wine here since 1789. The house is a 17th century residence with cellars and farm buildings, and one of its underground cellars from that time is still used to age the wines.
The estate is run by the Ferrari family, and the website names Aleardo, his daughter Cristina and Carlo.
The land and the vineyards
Two vineyards stand out. Bure Alto is on a hill at San Pietro in Cariano, facing southeast, on chalky, loamy soil. Montepalà lies in the hills of Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella, facing south, on chalky and gravelly soil. Both lie in the classic zone of Valpolicella.
The wines
Amarone is the main wine of the house, and it is joined by the other classic expressions of Valpolicella: Recioto, Valpolicella Classico, Valpolicella Classico Superiore and Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore. The estate also presses extra virgin olive oil.
Today
Visitors can book tastings at the estate, and the website is available in English, German and Italian. A fruit drying loft, barrel cellars and the old courtyard are part of what the family shows to guests.
