Valpolicella Ripasso DOC “Valpantena” 2022 – MAGNUM
Wine Description
Bertani’s Valpolicella Ripasso Valpantena 2022 is produced from vineyards on the marl-limestone, clay, and basalt soils of the Valpantena valley, northeast of Verona, trained in Guyot and Pergola systems with vines averaging 15 to 20 years of age. The wine is made by the traditional ripasso method: in January and February the young Valpolicella re-ferments on the still slightly sweet skins left over from the Amarone della Valpolicella Valpantena. This second fermentation adds body, concentration, and aromatic complexity while preserving the freshness typical of Valpolicella. After ripasso, the wine is aged in 30, 54, and 75 hectolitre barrels and 100 hectolitre concrete vats, followed by three months of bottle ageing before release. The format here is a 1.5 litre Magnum, which supports a slower, more even evolution in bottle. Alcohol is 13.5%.
