About Le Bignele
Le Bignele is the Aldrighetti family farm above Valgatara in Marano di Valpolicella, on hills the family has worked since 1818. Nine hectares spread across Marano, Negrar and San Pietro in Cariano, with vines of 35 to 40 years on clay and limestone soils trained to the traditional pergola veronese. Luigi and his brother Angelo look after vineyard and cellar while the next generation, Nicola, Silvia and Cecilia, runs production and welcomes visitors. The wines stay close to the classic Valpolicella grammar: Valpolicella, Superiore, Ripasso, Amarone and a small Recioto.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Le Bignele

History
The Aldrighetti family has farmed in Valpolicella Classica since 1818. That year the family bought a few plots in a place called Bignele, near the village of Valgatara, today part of Marano di Valpolicella. From there they began growing grapes and other crops.
Farming has always been the family trade, and the estate still pairs the old ways of working with modern techniques.
The land and the vineyards
The estate counts about 9 hectares of vineyard, spread over the valleys of Marano di Valpolicella, Negrar and San Pietro in Cariano. It sits among the gentle hills of Valpolicella Classica, the historic heart of the zone.
All the work is done by family members only, and each season brings different tasks, so everyone does the job they like best.
The wines
The wines are the typical ones of Valpolicella Classica: Valpolicella, Ripasso, Recioto and Amarone, all from grapes grown on the estate. Luigi is the family cellar master and follows every stage of vinification, while Angelo looks after the vines and the soil.
The estate has a wine shop that is open every day, including weekends, from 8:30 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 18:30.
Today
Today the brothers and sister Nicola, Silvia and Cecilia run the estate under the eye of their father Luigi and their uncle Angelo. Nicola follows the whole production line, Silvia and Cecilia lead visits and tastings in the cellar, and Cecilia also looks after the new farm stay. At harvest time everyone works together.
