Wine Description
Ferrari Riserva Lunelli is a 100% Chardonnay Metodo Classico sparkling wine produced from grapes grown exclusively in the estate vineyards surrounding Villa Margon, a historic 16th-century residence on the slopes of Monte Bondone in Trentino. It is the only wine in the Ferrari range whose first fermentation takes place in large Austrian oak casks, a practice dating back to Bruno Lunelli in the 1950s and 1960s, which gives the wine additional body, roundness, and aromatic complexity. After the first fermentation in wood, the wine is bottled for secondary fermentation according to the traditional method, then aged on the lees for a minimum of 69 months (approximately seven years) before disgorgement and dosage as Extra Brut. The extended lees aging produces a deep straw-gold colour with fine, persistent bubbles, alongside complex aromas of citrus, exotic fruit, toasted bread, hazelnut, honey, and sweet spice. The palate is broad and structured, with lively acidity that provides freshness and length, making this wine suitable for pairing throughout an entire meal. The 2016 vintage was selected alongside the 2004 vintage as one of only two releases aged for this minimum 69-month period, reflecting the selective, vintage-driven approach to this label.
