Prosecco Brut “Zan”
Wine Description
The ZAN is produced by F.lli Bortolin, a family winery located in Santo Stefano di Valdobbiadene at the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene DOCG zone in the Veneto. The wine takes its name from Zan Bortolin, a grower documented in 1542 in the State Archive of Treviso, who cultivated 17 plots in the same area. It is made from 100% Glera grapes and is a notable version of the house Brut in that it is produced without added sulfites, which requires careful winemaking under CO2 saturation and thorough filtration before the autoclave. Sparkling is carried out using the Martinotti (Charmat) method with a slow secondary fermentation, which preserves the grape’s natural fruit character and produces a fine, persistent perlage. The wine has an alcohol content of 12% and a very low residual sugar level consistent with a Brut classification. It is intended for early drinking and works well as an aperitivo or alongside light food.
