About Valentina Cubi
Valentina Cubi and her husband Giancarlo Vason bought ten hectares of vineyard at Fumane in 1970, in the Valpolicella Classica, and the estate on Via Casterna still answers to her name. The vines sit between 290 and 350 metres, facing south and southeast, planted mainly to Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara; farming has been fully organic since 2014, on the conviction that a great wine is born in the vineyard rather than the cellar. Production stays small and personal, from the Valpolicella Iperico and the ripasso Arusnatico to the Amarone Morar and the Recioto Meliloto.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Valentina Cubi

History
Azienda Agricola Valentina Cubi is an organic estate in Valpolicella. Directory listings say it started in 1970, when Valentina and her husband Giancarlo took over the land that is now the estate. The legal seat is at San Pietro in Cariano, while the farm itself is at Casterna in Fumane, in the Verona hills.
The land and the vineyards
One listing gives the property as 13 hectares, with 10 of them under vine and the rest olive trees. Another source gives a different acreage, so the figure should be read as approximate. The family began organic farming in 2010 and has held full organic certification since 2014. The vineyards grow the native grapes of Valpolicella: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara.
The wines
The cellar makes the classic Valpolicella range of Amarone, Valpolicella, Ripasso and Recioto. Wines on the winery's website include Arusnatico, Morar, Iltabarro, Meliloto and Antenatus. The website describes its own approach as qualitative and never commercial, with every wine analysed and tasted by the family.
Today
The estate runs an agriturismo, where guests can stay on the farm, walk the vineyards and visit the cellar, with tours ending in a tasting of the organic wines. It belongs to the Valpolicella wine route and has taken part in the organic hall at Vinitaly.
