About Nicolis
Nicolis is a family estate in San Pietro in Cariano, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica, founded in 1951 by Angelo Nicolis and his wife Natalia. Today the third generation, Angelo and Sofia, works alongside their father Giuseppe across 49 hectares of estate vineyards farmed with attention to soil health and low impact methods. The house style aims for balance between freshness and structure, running from the everyday Valpolicella Classico through the Seccal ripasso and the Testal rosso to Amarone and the single vineyard Riserva Ambrosan.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Nicolis

History
Nicolis is a family winery in San Pietro in Cariano, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica. The official site says the family has worked in the vineyards for three generations and has made wine since 1951. Sources add that Angelo Nicolis and his wife Natalia built larger facilities that year, and that wine had been made on the property for local use before then. Their first bottling on site came in 1978.
Today the company is led by Giuseppe, the second generation, with his children Angelo and Sofia also working in it. Press reports say the winery will stay independent and in family hands.
The land and the vineyards
The family describes Valpolicella as the garden of Verona, a landscape of vines, olive trees and cherry trees. Sources give the vineyard area as between 42 and 49 hectares, which the official site does not confirm.
The estate is managed under sustainable principles and holds the national SQNPI certification for integrated production.
The wines
The range is built on the classic Valpolicella wines. There is a Valpolicella Classico, Seccal, a Ripasso Classico Superiore, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico, Ambrosan, an Amarone Classico Riserva, and a Recioto della Valpolicella. Testal is a Rosso Verona IGT, and the estate also makes a Lugana and a rosé called Rosa di Anto.
One listing gives Ambrosan as 70 percent Corvina, 20 percent Rondinella and 10 percent Croatina. The Amarone grapes dry in a special room, which visitors can see.

The winery welcomes visitors for tastings and cellar tours, including a walk through the vineyard and the drying room.
