About Menti

History
Menti is a family winery in Gambellara, in the province of Vicenza, founded at the end of the nineteenth century by Giovanni Menti. He chose to work with Garganega, the grape that defines the area. Stefano Menti, who calls himself a winegrower and the son of farmers, now carries on the work.
The land and the vineyards
Gambellara is a small zone of low hills in eastern Veneto, next to Soave, and its soils come from old volcanoes. The estate has just over seven hectares planted on basalt rich volcanic soil, with vines averaging around sixty years of age. Besides Garganega the family grows Durella. The vineyards are farmed organically and biodynamically.
The wines
The wines are made with native yeasts and are not filtered. Paiele is a fresh white that spends about ten months in tank. Monte del Cuca is an orange wine, fermented on its skins. Roncaie sui lieviti is a sparkling wine refermented in the bottle, in the col fondo style. Riva Arsiglia comes from the oldest vines and rests four years on its lees before release.
Today
The Menti wines suit people who like whites with structure and a little edge. They show what Garganega can do from old vines on volcanic soil, far from the simple versions the grape is often known for.
