About La Sibilla

History
La Sibilla is a family estate in Bacoli, in the Campi Flegrei near Naples. The Di Meo family has worked this land for generations; one source dates the start to Pasquale Di Meo in 1913. Luigi Di Meo and his wife Restituta launched the label in the 1990s. The name recalls the Cumaean Sibyl.
The cellar is in the cisterns of an old aqueduct that fed a Roman reservoir in Bacoli.
The land and the vineyards
The estate farms about 9.5 hectares of ungrafted vines, farmed organically. The main grapes are Falanghina and Piedirosso, and some vines are nearly a century old.
The wines
Falanghina and Piedirosso lead the range, including the Falanghina Cruna del Lago. The estate won Tre Bicchieri in 2013, one of the first in the Campi Flegrei to do so.
Today
Vincenzo is the winemaker and Salvatore handles sales and hospitality. Production is around 65,000 to 70,000 bottles.
