Sauvignon Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC “Zitelle” 2024
Wine Description
The Zitelle is produced by Enzo Pontoni of Miani from a single vineyard in Buttrio, planted on hilly ponca soils, the characteristic Friulian stratification of marl and sandstone. The vineyard is noted for a strong chalk presence within the ponca, which contributes pronounced mineral tension and citrus definition to the wine. Fermentation of the 2024 takes place in French oak barriques using only natural yeasts, with no added sulfur at harvest, and the wine is aged for approximately 12 months in barrique before bottling. Yields are kept deliberately low across the Miani estate to maximise concentration and territorial expression. The wine is considered one of the most territorial expressions of Sauvignon Blanc in Italy, combining the grape’s varietal character with the mineral depth of the Colli Orientali.
