Sauvignon Riserva “Gran Lafoa” 2022
Falstaff 96
Wine Description
Gran Lafóa is a single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc grown on an old-vine parcel in Cornaiano at around 450 metres above sea level, planted with French clones at the end of the 1980s on sandy, gravelly morainal soils. Grapes are harvested exclusively from this historic plot and the wine is fermented and aged in barriques, followed by further maturation in 600-litre wooden barrels and stainless steel tanks. The wine is a limited-edition release and the top expression within Colterenzio’s Lafóa range. Colterenzio is a cooperative winery based in Cornaiano, south of Bolzano, founded in 1960 and today comprising around 300 grower families farming approximately 300 hectares across Alto Adige. The 2022 vintage was awarded Tre Bicchieri by Gambero Rosso and named White Wine of the Year 2025 in their Vini d’Italia guide. The producer indicates a cellaring potential of 8 to 10 years from harvest.
