Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico “Morar” 2010 – MAGNUM
Wine Description
Morar is an Amarone della Valpolicella DOC Classico produced by Valentina Cubi from organically farmed Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes grown on the hills of Fumane and San Pietro in Cariano, in the vineyard sites of Rasso, Monte Tenda and Monte Crosetta at elevations between 290 and 350 metres above sea level. The rocky, mineral-rich soils and cooling breezes from Lake Garda define the character of the fruit. Grapes are hand-selected and dried for approximately 90 days before vinification begins in January, concentrating sugars, tannins and aromatic compounds. Fermentation takes place in truncated conical stainless steel tanks at a controlled 14°C, followed by ageing in large wooden barrels and an extended period of bottle rest before release. The 2010 vintage in Valpolicella was characterised by good diurnal temperature variation, contributing to firm acidity and structural depth. At 17% alcohol, this is a full-bodied, age-worthy wine with the concentration and tannic backbone to continue developing in bottle.
