Barolo DOCG Riserva Vigna Rionda 2010
Wine Description
Vigna Rionda is a single south-facing vineyard of just under 0.8 hectares in the municipality of Serralunga d’Alba, at approximately 360 metres above sea level. The soil is Lequio formation, alternating grey marl and sandstone with an exceptionally high active limestone content of around 13.58 percent, the highest in the Barolo zone. The wine is made entirely from Nebbiolo grapes harvested by hand in the second week of October, with a long maceration of approximately 30 days followed by ageing in large oak barrels for around 36 months. As a Riserva, the 2010 was held in the Oddero cellars for a total of roughly ten years before release, in line with the family’s practice of releasing each Riserva when the vintage is at its best. 2010 is considered a classic, structured Barolo vintage in Piedmont, producing wines with firm tannins, precise acidity, and strong aging potential.
