About Jermann
Jermann is a family-owned winery based in Villanova di Farra, in the Collio and Isonzo DOC zones of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeastern Italy. Founded by Angelo Jermann in 1881 and significantly modernized by his descendant Silvio Jermann in the 1970s and 1980s, the estate is widely regarded as one of Friuli's leading white wine producers. The winery is best known for its distinctive single-varietal and blended whites, including the flagship Vintage Tunina and the Chardonnay-based 'Were Dreams, Now It Is Just Wine.'
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Jermann

History
The Jermann family settled in Villanova di Farra, in the Isonzo area of Friuli, in 1881. Accounts of where they came from vary: sources point to Austria or to a Slovenian background, so that part is left open.
The modern story belongs to Silvio Jermann, the founder's great grandson. From the 1970s he moved the house toward fresher, more perfumed white wines and brought it to the top of Italian wine. The winery's own site calls him a visionary.
The land and the vineyards
The company works about 200 hectares, of which about 170 are vines and the rest arable land, according to its site. The historic cellar is at Villanova di Farra in the Isonzo. In 2007 a second winery opened at Ruttars in Dolegna del Collio, about 15 kilometres away, which gave the family a base in the Collio hills.
The wines
Vintage Tunina is the best known label. It is a blend of Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Malvasia Istriana, Ribolla Gialla and Picolit, first made from the 1973 harvest and released in 1975. Dreams, a Chardonnay, and Red Angel, a Pinot Nero, are two other names the winery puts forward. A separate line of simple wines is closed under screwcap.
Today
In March 2021 the Antinori family bought a majority stake in Jermann. The management stayed in place, and Silvio Jermann kept an active role.
