About Comaroto
Comaroto is the estate of the Dal Forno brothers at Monte Tenda in Illasi, looking across the valley to the village's medieval castle, and it grew as a natural evolution of the family tradition that made the Val d'Illasi famous among Amarone drinkers. Vineyards and olive groves surround the cellar, and the work follows the family's exacting method: low yields, careful drying and unhurried aging, everything done in house. The range is deliberately small, a Valpolicella Superiore and an Amarone, wines of the eastern valleys rather than the Classica.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Comaroto
History
Comaroto is a family estate run by Dal Forno Bros. Società Agricola Semplice, based at Monte Tenda in Illasi, near Verona. The company dates from 2021, and in April 2022 Comaroto became the name of its Amarone and Valpolicella wines.
The name comes from the comare, the local midwife. Ernesto Dal Forno's mother worked as a midwife in the Val d'Illasi in the early 1900s, and the word has stood for the family ever since. It also recalls a saying from the grandparents about keeping the feet on the ground.
The land and the vineyards
The estate lies in eastern Valpolicella, at the foot of the Monti Lessini. The soils are calcareous clay and marl, and the grapes ripen slowly in the breezes that come down from the hills. The countryside is made of gentle hills, tidy vineyards, old farm courtyards and a medieval castle.
The wines
There are two wines: Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG and Valpolicella Superiore DOC. Hand selected grapes are dried on racks so that their flavours concentrate, then fermented and aged in wooden barrels before bottling.
The producer describes a purist approach built on manual work, meant to bring out the character of each grape.
Today
Comaroto presents itself as a new beginning that keeps the family's origins alive. The cellar includes a tunnel, which the site shows in photographs. Visits and a virtual tour are listed on the Veneto regional tourism pages, and the address is Località Monte Tenda 5, Illasi.
