About Bolla
Bolla is one of the great popularizers of Veronese wine, a house born at Soave in the late nineteenth century that carried Soave and Valpolicella onto tables across the world, above all in America. Its Amarone credentials are older than the wine's fame: the family has bottled it since the 1950 vintage. Today Bolla works from San Pietro in Cariano in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica as part of Gruppo Italiano Vini, and its selections, Le Poiane, Rhetico and the riserva Le Origini, aim at the classical, balanced center of the style.

About Bolla

History
Bolla began in 1883 in Soave, where Alberto Bolla grew up around the cellar of his parents' tavern, Al Gambero, run by Abele and Giulia. He started by selling the local white wine to other taverns, and the business soon reached Verona and Venice. In 1902 Alberto and his brothers opened a restaurant in Venice near the church of San Salvatore.
The 1930s brought change. Alberto's eldest son Giorgio, an oenologist, came into the company, and in 1931 a winery was opened at Pedemonte, in the heart of Valpolicella Classica, to make red wines.
The land and the vineyards
From then on Bolla worked with two areas: the Soave hills for whites, and Valpolicella Classica for reds. Gruppo Italiano Vini describes vineyards of over 300 hectares across Valpolicella Classica, the Soave area and Lake Garda.
The wines
Soave is where the story starts, and the reds from Pedemonte followed: Valpolicella, Recioto and Amarone. The house grew strongly in Italy and abroad, above all in the United States, where Soave Bolla became a familiar name on restaurant lists.
Today
In 2006 Gruppo Italiano Vini completed the acquisition of Bolla, saying it intended to keep the house's values of quality, passion and respect for the land. The winery is still based around San Pietro in Cariano and continues to make Soave and the Valpolicella family of wines.
