Etna Rosso DOC “Pietrarizzo” 2017 – MAGNUM
Wine Description
Tornatore Etna Rosso Pietrarizzo is produced from 100% Nerello Mascalese grapes grown in the Contrada Pietrarizzo, a single-vineyard cru on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, at around 700 metres above sea level. Grapes are harvested by hand in small crates in October and manually selected on a sorting belt before being destemmed and sent to truncated-conical wooden vats, where fermentation takes place at 22 to 25 degrees Celsius with daily punch-downs over 10 to 12 days. The wine then ages for over 12 months in a combination of large wooden barrels and concrete tanks, followed by at least 3 months of bottle aging. The resulting wine is light ruby in colour with a fine, balanced nose of red fruits and flowers underpinned by characteristic volcanic minerality.
