Bott Grappa Stravecchia
Wine Description
Bott Grappa Stravecchia is a wood-aged grappa produced by Tenuta San Leonardo, the historic estate located in the Vallagarina valley of Trentino. Grappa is an Italian pomace brandy distilled from the grape skins, seeds, and stems remaining after winemaking. The designation ‘Stravecchia’ indicates extended aging in oak barrels, typically for a minimum of 18 months, which imparts amber color and notable smoothness. San Leonardo is best known for its Bordeaux-style red wines, and the marc used for this grappa likely derives from those varietals. Extended barrel aging mellows the spirit’s initial sharpness and develops layers of dried fruit, vanilla, and toasted wood. It is traditionally served as a digestivo at room temperature in a tulip-shaped glass.
