About Morgassi Superiore

History
Morgassi Superiore is a Gavi estate in Piedmont. A brand study describes it as a winery at the heart of the Gavi zone, making DOCG wines since 1993. The owners named in it are Marina and Cecilia Piacitelli.
The land and the vineyards
The estate works with Cortese, the white grape of Gavi. The Gavi DOCG was recognised in 1998, after the DOC in 1974, and covers some 1,666 hectares of vines.
The wines
The three Gavi bottlings carry the names Volo, Tuffo and Passo, each meant as a different style. Volo is 100 percent Cortese and is bottled as Gavi di Gavi. Jancis Robinson has reviewed several vintages, including Volo and Tuffo del Comune di Gavi. A retailer describes Tuffo as having a delicate nose of citrus and white fruit and a long, slightly bitter finish.
