About Masi Agricola
Masi takes its name from the Vaio dei Masi, the small valley in the Valpolicella Classica bought by the Boscaini family at the end of the eighteenth century, and it is still family run after seven generations. The house built its name on appassimento, the winter drying of grapes for Amarone and Recioto, which its technical group has studied and refined for decades, and on the recovery of old Veronese varieties such as Oseleta. Alongside the widely exported Costasera it bottles two historic cru Amarones, Campolongo di Torbe and Mazzano, and tends the vineyards of the Serego Alighieri estate, home of the descendants of the poet Dante.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Masi Agricola

History
Masi dates its story to 1772, the year of the first harvest by the Boscaini family in the Vajo dei Masi, a small valley in Valpolicella that the family had acquired in the late eighteenth century. The name Masi comes from that valley. The Boscaini family still owns the company, and Sandro Boscaini, the president, belongs to the sixth generation.
The land and the vineyards
The home base is Valpolicella Classica, around Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella. Masi has made single vineyard wines since the 1950s, and it works with other historic estates. For over forty years it has partnered with the Serego Alighieri family in Valpolicella, with the Bossi Fedrigotti family in Trentino and with Canevel in Valdobbiadene, where sparkling wines are made.
The wines
Masi is tied to appassimento, the method of drying grapes on racks through the winter before pressing. It is the way Amarone is made, and Masi also applies it to other wines, among them Campofiorin, a red it calls Supervenetian. Sandro Boscaini is credited with bringing Amarone back from a period when it was treated as a plain dry cousin of Valpolicella.
The Vajo dei Masi Amarone is named after the family's home valley.
