About Marisa Cuomo
Marisa Cuomo is a small family winery located in Furore, on the Amalfi Coast in the Campania region of southern Italy. The estate is known for producing wines from the steep terraced vineyards of the Costa d'Amalfi DOC, working with indigenous grape varieties such as Falanghina, Biancolella, Piedirosso, and Aglianico. Their Fiorduva, a late-harvest white wine, is among the most recognized wines of the appellation.
Prices are for take away and shipping. The wine bar serves from its own list.

About Marisa Cuomo

History
Cantine Marisa Cuomo was founded in 1980 in Furore, a village high above the sea on the Amalfi Coast. It is run by Andrea Ferraioli and his wife Marisa Cuomo. Ferraioli comes from a family of local growers and bought the Gran Furor Divina Costiera brand, which dates back to 1942, as a gift for his future wife. The oenologist Luigi Moio has advised the winery since the 1990s.
The land and the vineyards
The company works about ten hectares, of which 3.5 are owned. Everything is in Furore and the nearby Costa d'Amalfi, on steep slopes cut into terraces and held up by dry stone walls. Most vines are trained on pergolas, and many cling to almost vertical rock. The cellars are carved into the rock face about 500 metres above the sea.
The main grapes are Piedirosso and Aglianico for the reds, and Falanghina and Biancolella for the whites. Old local varieties such as Ripoli, Fenile and Ginestra also go into the best white.
The wines
Fiorduva is the best known wine. It is a white from Ripoli, Fenile and Ginestra, made in the Costa d'Amalfi Furore denomination. The range also includes Furore Bianco, Furore Rosso, a Riserva, a rosato, and wines from the neighbouring Ravello area. The old Gran Furor Divina Costiera name survives on the labels.
These whites carry the salt and the stone of the coast, and the reds are lighter and more spiced than most wines from Campania.
Today
Work here is slow and done by hand, because machines cannot reach the terraces. The winery is small, family owned and still led by its founders, and it is the reference for anyone curious about the wines of the Amalfi Coast.
