“Masseto” Toscana IGT 2007

Masseto is a single-vineyard wine made entirely from Merlot grown on a seven-hectare plot in the Bolgheri area of coastal Tuscany. The vineyard sits on deep blue clay soils over ancient marine sediments, giving the wine a distinctive mineral character alongside its fruit. The 2015 growing season saw a mild, rainy winter that built water reserves, followed by hot and dry conditions in June and July, producing grapes with concentrated flavors and mid-weight structure. Vinification takes place in a combination of stainless steel tanks and oak vessels, with the wine then aged in French barriques before bottling. The 2015 is considered one of the more polished and harmonious releases in the Masseto series, showing balance between its ripe fruit, firm tannins, and freshness. Vines at the time of harvest ranged from 30 to 40 years old, contributing to the depth and concentration typical of the wine.
