Barbaresco DOCG 2023 – MAGNUM
Wine Description
Prunotto Barbaresco DOCG is produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes grown in the Treiso and Neive subzones of the Barbaresco denomination in Piedmont, northern Italy. Grapes are destemmed and macerated on the skins for approximately 8 days at a maximum temperature of 30°C, followed by malolactic fermentation before winter. The wine is then aged for approximately 12 months in oak barrels of varying capacities, followed by further bottle rest in the Prunotto cellars in Alba. The 2022 growing season was notable for unusually dry and warm conditions, with mild winters and above-average summer temperatures that pushed harvest to complete by early October. Cluster sizes were reduced due to the stress of the season, resulting in concentrated fruit with a forward and approachable character. The wine shows garnet red color of good intensity and offers red fruit and spice on the nose with a velvety, well-structured palate.
