Wine Description
La Spinetta’s Barbaresco Vursù Starderi is produced entirely from Nebbiolo grown on the Starderi vineyard in Neive, Cuneo, at around 230 metres above sea level on blue-tinted calcareous marl with small percentages of clay. The vineyard faces south-west and the Tanaro river in the valley below moderates both winter cold and summer heat. For the 2007 vintage, maceration and alcoholic fermentation took place in temperature-controlled vats for approximately 12 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels and 22 months of barrel ageing. The wine was then bottle-aged for a further 6 months before release, reaching a final alcohol of 14.5% with a total acidity of 5.5 g/l and a pH of 3.6.
