About Frecciarossa

History
Frecciarossa is an estate in Casteggio, in the Oltrepo Pavese, in the south of Lombardy. Its villa, Villa Odero, was built in 1860. Mario Odero bought the property in 1919, on returning to Italy after the First World War.
Frecciarossa wine was bottled and sold from 1921 to 1930, and in 1934 it was among the first Italian wines to reach the American market after Prohibition. Margherita Radici Odero renovated the cellar and the vineyards in 1990.
The land and the vineyards
The vineyards belong to the estate itself and are tended throughout the year by the family and its team. Harvest is done by hand, with grapes carried in small crates.
In 2014 Margherita and her daughter Valeria began moving the farm to organic methods, and the first certified organic harvest came in 2017.
The wines
The estate makes red, white, rosé and sparkling wines.
Today
Frecciarossa is still in the hands of the Odero family, and the family tells the story of the estate on its own website.
